A Magical Disney Adventure

If you’re ever looking for a great getaway, I highly recommend taking a cruise onboard one of Disney Cruise Line’s spectacular ships. No matter which destinations you choose, each sailing offers a plethora of different activities, so everyone in your family can enjoy the cruise experience. My family and I have had the pleasure of sailing on three of Disney’s cruise ships, and each journey was better than the last.

Most recently, we traveled to five different islands in the Caribbean onboard the Disney Magic in May 2023. Our week-long cruise began in San Juan, Puerto Rico where we boarded the ship and were greeted by friendly faces, tropical music and lots of delicious food. Our second through sixth days were spent soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches of St. Maarten, Antigua, Dominica, St. Lucia and Barbados.

My favorite island was St. Lucia. We sailed on a catamaran to The Pitons, which are among the largest of the world’s volcanic plugs, enjoying music, dancing and rum punch along the way. We also had the opportunity to swim in crystal clear waters at a private beach and taste the island’s most delicious mangos.

Of course, with every family vacation there’s always one event that certainly makes it a trip to remember. On this vacation, it was when my sister and I got stranded on a jet ski in Barbados. Those five minutes before someone saw us frantically waving our arms while screaming for help were some of the longest of my life. Pro tip: never ride your jet ski over a patch of seaweed… the engine will stall out. Looking back, we are able to laugh at the experience, knowing that we made memories to last a lifetime.

After long days in the sun, we enjoyed dinner at themed restaurants every night with amazing food and entertainment; at Rapunzel’s Royal Table and Be Our Guest Restaurant we dined with princesses and at Animator’s Palate we watched animations of our favorite Disney movies come to life. One night, we celebrated my parents’ 29th anniversary at Palo, an exclusive Italian fine dining restaurant with an amazing view of the ocean during sunset.

To make for a well rounded vacation, we also enjoyed a few live shows at the theater during our trip, including a great rendition of Disney’s Tangled and an original twist on Disney’s Cinderella that featured an evil wizard.

I’ve always believed that nobody does vacations like Disney and this trip only further proved my point. With many memories made and lots of laughter shared, this wonderful journey through the Caribbean was certainly a magical experience that will not soon be forgotten.
